What are Bronzers?
Bronzers are a temporary sunless tanning or bronzing option. These come in powders, sprays, gels, lotions and moisturizers. Once applied, bronzers create a tan that can easily be removed with soap and water. Like make-up, these products tint or stain your skin only until they are washed off. Bronzers have been deemed safe by the FDA.
Bronzers are often used for a "one-day" only tan, or to complement a DHA based sunless tan. Many bronzer formulations are available, and some have limited sweat or light water resistance. Most will create some light but visible rub-off onto snug clothing. Therefore they should not be applied under clothing, or where fabric and skin edges meet. Dark clothing will prevent the rub-off from being noticeable when using a bronzer.
What is the best way to apply a bronzer?
The key to natural, believable bronzer is in the application, as much as in the actual formula and color of the bronzer. No matter which bronzer you select, it should be applied on your face where the sun would naturally "kiss" your skin. For example, along the bridge of your nose and on the apples of your cheeks and/or the top of your cheekbones. Powder bronzers are easily applied, but can get too dark too easily. As with any makeup application, practice makes perfect. You'll find what you like and what works for you when applying bronzers.
